Fence Installation in Parsippany-Troy Hills, NJ
A fence in Lake Hiawatha, Mount Tabor or the Troy Hills area may have a different purpose, but the township's fence ordinance shapes every installation. Parsippany-Troy Hills has specific rules for fence height, front-yard openness and distance from the property line.
Solanos Fence installs privacy, decorative and pool fencing throughout Parsippany, NJ. Our options include vinyl, black aluminum, WPC composite, wood and post-and-rail. We also supply fence materials for customer pickup in nearby Fairfield.
Parsippany Fence Code: What Homeowners Should Know
Under Parsippany-Troy Hills Code §430-11, the main residential fence requirements include:
- Front yard: Fences and walls are limited to four feet high. Closed-type fencing is prohibited in the front yard; an open fence must meet the township's definition of openness.
- Side and rear yards: Fences and walls may be up to six feet high, subject to other applicable property and permit requirements.
- Six-inch property-line offset: A new fence must be built at least six inches inside the property line, not directly on it.
- Finished side out: The finished face must point outward toward adjacent properties.
- Corner lots: Fencing cannot obstruct the required intersection sight triangle.
- Pools: Pool enclosures must be at least four feet high and satisfy applicable New Jersey pool-barrier regulations.
These rules affect the materials and layout we recommend. A six-foot solid vinyl fence can be suitable in the permitted side or rear areas, but it is not a standard front-yard option. We suggest reviewing a current survey before selecting the final fence line.

Backyard Privacy Fencing in Parsippany
Six-Foot White Vinyl Privacy
For permitted side and rear yards, white vinyl privacy fencing offers a full enclosure with minimal routine maintenance. Our standard panels measure six feet high by eight feet wide and use 2-inch by 7-inch rails. We plan the runs around gates, corner posts and the township's property-line setback.
WPC Composite and Wood Fences
For properties with trees, slopes, sheds or a more custom appearance, WPC composite and wood can be good choices. We review transitions, terrain and gate locations during the estimate and quote these styles for the individual project.
Aluminum Fencing for Parsippany Front Yards and Pools
Parsippany's four-foot front-yard maximum means an open-style aluminum fence up to four feet is often a better choice for a street-facing boundary than a solid privacy fence. The township's openness rule and sight-triangle requirements still apply.
For pool enclosures or other locations where approved, Solanos Fence also installs 54-inch black aluminum pool-barrier fencing. That style is too tall for a standard four-foot front-yard limit; it should not be described as a front-yard fence. Pool compliance depends on the complete enclosure, including gate hardware, openings and ground clearance.

Frequently Asked Questions — Parsippany
Can my new fence sit directly on the property line?
Not under the township's standard rule. Section 430-11 requires fences and walls to be no less than six inches from the property line. Check your survey and permit requirements before installation.
What type of fence can I install in my front yard?
A front-yard fence must be no higher than four feet, and the ordinance prohibits closed-type fences. An appropriate open-style aluminum or other open design may work, subject to the exact location and township review.
Does a corner lot change my fence layout?
It can. The ordinance bars fences and walls within the required street-intersection sight triangle. Corner lots can also have more than one street-facing yard, so we recommend confirming how zoning treats the proposed fence location before quoting a final design.
