Morris Museum

The Morris Museum, located in Morristown, New Jersey, offers a rich tapestry of cultural, scientific, and artistic experiences for visitors of all ages. This extraordinary collection, one of the most significant of its kind in the Western Hemisphere, showcases over 750 pieces, including more than 150 on permanent display. The museum's commitment to engaging visitors is evident in its diverse range of interactive exhibits. The Mega Model Train Gallery, a sprawling 50-foot O-gauge layout, captivates audiences with its detailed scenes and moving components. Children and adults alike can activate various features by pressing one of 48 buttons, discovering hidden surprises along the way. 

For budding inventors, the Spark! Lab offers a hands-on environment where kids can engage in engineering and design challenges. This interactive space encourages creativity and problem-solving, fostering a love for innovation. 

The Earth Science Gallery provides a window into the prehistoric past, featuring dinosaur fossils, a real dinosaur egg, and an impressive amethyst geode. Visitors can trace the ancient footprints embedded in the floor and learn about the creatures that once roamed the Earth. 

Beyond its scientific exhibits, the Morris Museum houses a diverse array of cultural artifacts. The Native American Gallery offers insights into indigenous cultures through a collection of artifacts from New Jersey and beyond. Additionally, the museum's costume collection and the Dodge Room, dedicated to philanthropist Geraldine S. Dodge, highlight the region's artistic heritage. 

The Bickford Theatre, located within the museum, enriches the cultural landscape with a variety of performances. The Morris Museum is open Tuesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sundays from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Admission fees are reasonable, with discounts available for seniors and children. The museum also offers "pay as you wish" admission on the second and third Thursdays of each month, making it accessible to a broader audience.
